Encouraging safe, efficient travel across the region is critically important. Making well-planned investments in the transportation infrastructure and how it operates is a key role of government The U.S. Route 119 Committee represents a group of residents, government representatives, and elected officials that come together to address issues of concern and priority improvements along the U.S. Route 119 corridor.
U.S Route 119 stretches across three southwestern Pennsylvania counties. These include Indiana, Jefferson, and Clearfield counties. The Committee includes equal representation from each of these municipalities.
Mission of the Committee
The U.S. Route 119 Improvement Committee is committee to advocating operational and safety improvements to the Route 119 corridor and its tributaries.
History of the Committee
The Committee has been in existence continually since 1984. As such, 2014 represents the 40th year of continual operation and service.
Taken on December 03, 2009, when three long-time members of the U.S. Route 119 Improvement Committee were honored with certificates for their years of service are, from left: Ernest Neel, Roseville; John Hallman, Punxsutawney; former Indiana County Commissioner David Frick, who presented the recognitions; and founding member, former Jefferson County Commissioner, Andrew Laska, Punxsutawney.
This photo appeared with a story on the 85th Anniversary of the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Highway written on May 31, 2011 and published in the "Jeffersonian-Democrat" newspaper. Since that story and this picture were published, Ernie Neel, John Hallman and Andy Laska have all passed away. David Frick retired as an Indiana County Commissioner in 2013.

Meetings
There are 18 official members of the Committee. Three members at large from each participating county in addition to the County Commissioners from each county. However, many other interests and people, representing a wide-range of stakeholders actively participate on the committee. Listed below are the current members of the Committee:
